Measuring Team Performance

Team-performance measurement provides teams with information that they can use to identify strengths and weaknesses in their performance. This information becomes the basis for problem solving concerning areas of improvement. Problem solving then leads to performance improvement through improved work processes. Team-performance measurement builds a platform for problem solving. It allows organizations to develop a structured process for accountability and continuous improvement.

In this course learn how to become an effective leader leading an action learning team through the eight Basic Principles of Team-Performance Measurement:

To capture the team’s full attention, capture its strategy in the measurement system.

  1. Ensure that the team’s strategy is aligned with the organization’s business strategy.
  2. The purpose of measuring team performance is to stimulate problem solving that leads to improved performance.
  3. The measurement system provides a critical focus for team meetings.
  4. Measure the critical few, rather than the trivial many.
  5. Team members need to understand their measurement system completely.
  6. Involve the customers in developing the measurement system.
  7. The measurement system should address the work of each team member.

In addition to the Eight Basic Principles of Team-Performance Teams the topics that shall be discussed are but not limited to:

  1. Developing Team Performance Measures
